Although I live in Essex I spend a LOT of time in London. I work in London, I adventure out … in London.
There’s plenty to do, especially now that it’s Christmas time and the festivities are upon us. I’ve made a small list of my favourite things to do this season below and use mostly my Instagram photos (I’m at @alinaisaev00) to show you how awesome London is. So, here goes…
1. Best LDN Walks
Tour central London with this company, they’re great! I went on one of their giffgaff Instagram Walks which was so much fun! Check out my instagram with #giffgaffsnaps for cool skating videos and very beautiful evening scenes of the London Eye and Big Ben.
I also especially liked the fact that the walk also showcased the less touristy bits of London. For example we went to see an authorised graffiti area which was fascinating! I without a doubt recommend going there and if you go on one of those walks the tour guide even brings spray paint with them so you can try to it out for yourself, which is completely legal too 🙂
2. Winter Wonderland
During Christmas time you MUST go to Hyde Park. Super cheesy, super cute and super Christmasy; it’s certainly the place to go to feel festive. I went there for the first time a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Firstly we went to the Ice Kingdom, which had the most beautiful sculptures made from ice (below). Plus, I got to go down an ice slide 😉
It’s not only great for children, although you’ll get to feel like a child yourself – I was so excited I was jumping up and down haha – but it’s perfect for grown-ups too as there is beer and mulled wine galore. There’s also the romantic ferris wheel that’s perfect if you’re going as a couple on a Christmas date 😉
3. Jack The Ripper Walk
This is topical this year! Did you know that they’ve finally found out who Jack the Ripper is? I won’t tell you who it is because you should really learn the history and see the Ripper sights in London for yourself. The tour guide will explain all the gory and interesting facts. I personally found it really interesting and loved walking the street of the city trying to imagine what it was like back then when the murders were happening.
4. Oxford Street Shopping
There are plenty of shops; from Topshop, H&M, Zara, Next, Selfridges, HoF, Debenhams and lots lots more. There’s plenty of opportunity to buy your Christmas presents… and grab a few bits for yourself too 😉
Also, there are lots of Christmas lights up that you can feast your eyes on…
Have a look at Boots’ ‘MERRY CHRISTMAS’ sign when it’s dark too. You can’t miss it trust me – it’s fantastic!
5. Southbank Centre Christmas Market
The London Christmas Market by Waterloo station is one of my most favourite places to go during Christmas. Not far from there I actually got engaged <3 so I feel very much attached to the Southbank 🙂
Here’s us last year (my hair is different now lol) but we’re planning to go again next week!
Apart from the romantic sissy stuff I also love the market for it’s cute little shops, heart warming mulled wine and the feeling of the festivities that have finally come. It’s definitely a lovely day out.
So, that’s my top five things to do in London. Now, have fun and have a very Merry Christmas!
