Braid Headband Knitting Pattern

Perfect for winter and perfect to show off your knitting skills, this chunky headband is sure to keep you cosy and stylish during the coldest months of winter!

What You Will Need to Knit

Chunky wool in a material and colour of your choice

10mm knitting needles

 

Cable Headband Knitting Pattern

Cast on multiples of 11 stitiches (or just 11 for one cable pattern finish shown in the image below.)

Row 1: Knit 11

Row 2: Knit 1, Purl 9, Knit 1

Row 3: Knit 1, (C6F) Slip 3 stitches onto a cable needle and hold the wool in front, Knit 3, Knit 3 from cable needle, Knit 4 as normal

Row 4: Knit 1, Purl 9, Knit 1

Row 5: Knit 11

Row 6: Knit 1, Purl 9, Knit 1

Row 7: Knit 4, (C6B) Slip 2 stitches onto a cable needle and hold the wool in back, Knit 3, Knit 3 from cable needle, Knit 1 as normal

Row 8: Knit 1, Purl 9, Knit 1

To complete the headband: repeat the knitting pattern for cables (rows 1-8) until you have come to your desired length.

Top Tip: Use a measuring tape to calculate the circumference of your head. Don’t forget to make the headband at least a cm longer on each end to allow for binding once complete.
