Classic Banana Bread Recipe

This is a special, family recipe.

Passed down from generation to generation, this tasty banana bread mixture has been enjoyed by many members of the family and I’m making it available so that you can try it out for yourself!

It’s delicious, trust me. Be it a special breakfast or a dessert treat, it’s sure to appease your taste buds 🙂

Banana Bread Ingredients

3 bananas (preferably overripe)

6 oz of self raising flour

4 oz of white granulated sugar

4 oz of unsalted butter

2 eggs

1 tsp of bicarbonate soda

2 tbsp of milk

4 oz raisins or chocolate chips (optional)

How to Make Banana Bread

  1. Preheat oven at 170 oC/Gas 4 and grease a bread tin
  2. Mash your bananas until there are no lumps
  3. Cream the butter and sugar together, then mix in the bananas
  4. Mix the eggs, milk and bicarbonate soda together, then add to your banana mixture
  5. Fold in the flour and add optional ingredients
  6. Pour into greased tin and bake for 45 minutes
  7. Test the bread by poking a knife or skewer in the centre – if it comes out clear then it’s ready to be taken out
