Holiday Themed Window Sill

For a long time now I’ve been collecting souvenirs from holidays abroad, knowing that one day I’ll put them to good use.

That time finally arrived as I’ve decided to decorate my bathroom’s window sill!

It was helpful that the previous owners painted the bathroom a sky blue as it gave me a base colour to work with to recreate the perfect holiday themed bathroom idea that I had in mind. I chose the perfect sandy coloured and textured blind from Web-blinds.com*. It compliments the window, adding a beach feel to the space, and brings the whole theme together nicely.

‘Your house is like a museum’ my nanny told me and I guess I’m living up to that expectation with this theme because every item has a story behind it…

Toitoise trinket

I love this jewellery box from my sunny holiday with the family nearly a decade ago! Although it was a while ago, I remember like it was yesterday that we were looking through the market stalls and my fiance was trying to hide something from me. I have a thing for tortoises so he surprised me with this beauty after unsuccessfully trying to get me away from the little shops.

Elena bowl

OK, I’m cheating with this one a little as my friend gifted me this lovely bowl after travelling to France during the summer holidays. Nevertheless I’ve kept it since school!

You’re right, it doesn’t actually spell my name out correctly but I think it made the item even more special. It sort of adds that holiday feel to the room because when you’re abroad the language is foreign to you and noone understand you anyway haha.

Model town

The most recent of the purchases, this island is Moraira town and it’s beautiful. My other half and I bought this especially, to remind us of many great holidays in Spain with his family. It’s a town they visited often too as his granddad used to live there, so definitely a good place to remember forever.

Although the rest of my bathroom needs a lot of work as it’s outdated, this corner very much makes me happy. Each time I catch a glimps it brings back great memories of both family and friends and fun times in the sun!

What do you think?
