If you’re looking for home improvement ideas for the new year then you’ve come to the right place! Whether you need your own space to sort out the finances once a month, to study and research or if you work from home, it’s important to have a corner to which to retire to in order to get ‘into the zone’.
I’d totally go for something stylish as well as practical! From shelving to a sturdy desk and I’d love to add character to my office room at home too. As I love crafts and quirky decorations, I’d make sure that these can be seen, like a unique looking chair, maybe even a chair that I’ve given a makeover myself ;). I’d add colour too either by using carpet or wallpaper, giving the room a modern finish.
I know you’re not supposed to work with your laptop on your lap but I’m extremely guilty of doing this… in fact I’m doing it right now! So, get some comfy seats then make sure it’s comfortable enough for you to do your work. As I adore books I love the thought of having a mini library too, and what better place to have one than a home office where you’ll be using them?
Some people work best moving around so why not even think about an open plan bedroom and office. Some may think it’s absurd but if it works for you then go for it!
Another home office design I’m jealous of is a simple yet stylish room with plenty of light. That’s something I currently have a problem with at home; the lighting just isn’t good enough. Converted sheds or home extensions make great home offices as you can have plenty of light, especially as you can also add every feature that you need by building it from scratch.
Do you run your own business from home? It’s super important to have a space that fits all of your requirements and one of my home ideas would be to have your office separated from your workshop area to give you a place to get into the right mindset – be it for sorting out accounts or updating your digital side of the company.
However, if you’re a bit like me and love collecting lots and lots of magazines, be it fashion magazines or home and interior catalogues, then use them to add to your design. Simply stack them on your desk or near your home office furniture and you’ve got yourself a quirky office feature!
