I can be really picky when it comes to jam.
I adore real jam, you know the one with fruity chunks? I feel that smooth jam just tastes like sweetened jelly and there’s no fun eating it. That’s just my preference anyway so I guess I’m more of a conserve kind of girl so here’s my easy strawberry jam recipe with a twist.
What you Will Need
- 500g strawberries, cubed
- 200g Bramley apple, cubed
- 700g caster sugar
- 2 Tbls lemon juice
Strawberry and Apple Jam
Step 1: Put all ingredients into one bowl and stir thoroughly. Use a hand blender to make your consistency smoother and if you don’t like chunks in your jam.
Step 2: Then, put everything in one pan and cook on medium heat for 45 mins, stirring occasionally. To check whether it’s done simply put a small spoonful of jam onto a small dish that’s been in the freezer for 5 mins, if the consistency feels like gel then it’s done, if not then continue to cook your jam.
It’s really simple to make jam and it’s one of my favourite homemade things to do because of it. All you need to do is prepare the fruit and then put it in a pan, leaving it to cook on its own. I very much enjoy the apple twist in the strawberry and I hope you do too. Enjoy x
