Although it has taken me about 5 months to redecorate my bedroom it was worth the wait.
I’ve been through two stages prior to this:
- In stage one I showed you how I painted the bedroom an off-white. It’s also where I spoke about my bedroom ideas and I even let you vote for my colour scheme!
- Stage two is where I got more hands-on by changing my skirting board which was a tough job. I even began to style my bedroom with frames and bunting.
Now, we’ve come to stage three and as they say; third time lucky!
It’s dramatically changed and I hope you agree that it’s changed for the better 🙂
I absolutely love that it’s light and bright. It has really opened up the room and it feels really relaxing rather than claustrophobic and oppressive. There are three most recent things that contributed to the change and these are…
Bookshelf Mural Wallpaper
I’ve put up this lovely mural wallpaper with a bookshelf design. I like that it’s monochrome because it’s subtle yet it stands out – the eye definitely gets drawn to the overall image on the feature wall now. It’s unique but not overwhelming and I enjoy that the bedroom is now all about reading, thinking and relaxing.
Here’s my video of how I put the wall mural up:
Wooden Bed Frame
I’ve been waiting for a very long time to change our black faux leather bed frame to a wooden one. I’ve always thought that the black bed belongs to a bachelor pad haha. It also didn’t seem very us. I love the light wood frame therefore as it’s a natural material that adds to the chic style of the white room.
My Bedroom Colour Scheme YOU Voted for
50% of you voted for me to have a bedroom colour scheme that incorporates pastel blue, rose pink as well as purple and light grey and beige. As I have purple carpets I was already half way there. So, I’ve added the other colours in a subtle way by using accessories and soft furnishings. I hope you like what I’ve done as I tried to stay true to your wonderful colour choice!
Interiors Blogger Bedroom Tour
Wall art* & mural wallpaper* – G&B from House of Fraser | Candle & bedding* – Ashley Thomas | White curtains* – Dunelm | Wooden bed frame* – Noa & Nani | Cute cat cushion – Tesco | White knitted cushions – John Lewis | Purple vase* – Voyage Decoration | White geometric light* – Iconic Lights
After much work, from painting the bedroom three times to getting rid of the deep purple walls then putting up the skirting board, bed frame and wallpaper, it was a pleasure to start styling the room. The curtains and bedding really freshened up the room whilst my accessories are there to add a pop of colour here and there or wisdom 😉 I didn’t actually realise that I have a few different things, all with a quote of their own:
- Wall art – Always take the scenic route
- Plant pot – Bloom and grow
- Safe keeping box – Do more of what makes you happy
I feel that the bedroom is complete – all but one thing; the carpet! I don’t mind that it’s purple, especially now that all of the other purple is gone so it’s not as overwhelming. I feel it adds colour to the room, but I would very much prefer a new carpet because this one is worn, has paint marks on it and simply doesn’t go with the rooms atmosphere. Until we can afford new flooring however I will ignore the floor and will make the most of what I have and enjoy my beautiful new and inspirational bedroom!
