My dad’s birthday always seems to stump me when it comes to gifting…
I never know what to get him and not because I don’t know what he likes but because I’m pretty sure I’ve bought him everything I thought he would like in the past decade and fancied something a little more unique and unusual.
That’s why my husband and I decided to buy my dad a Lamborghini driving experience and I’ve reviewed the whole process; from purchasing the experience to the actual day. I hope you enjoy my photography too because I’m really proud of how cool they’ve turned out – with the awesome blurry background! 😉

Purchasing the Driving Day on Tesco
Buying the Supercar driving experience day was easy. I bought it online (here) and went through the usual process of signing in, adding card information and then I was sent it 3-5 working days thereafter. It comes in a nice giftable envelope and card holder, making it a little more special if you’re gifting it on someones birthday. As my dad isn’t a sentimental soul, I kept it and simply told him what his birthday present is. Haha.
As I work for Tesco I was entitled to a small discount but found that it’s a right pain to get my ‘privileged’ card connected to all the different Tesco accounts (groceries or general merchandise etc.) but that’s a completely different story.
Booking the Driving Experience
Depending on your location, we chose North Weald in Epping, South East Essex, you need to book the driving day online. If you call you’d be redirected to the Car Limits website. I was only able to choose a Sunday or a Monday and as my husband and I work full time we thought a Sunday was a good option.
Once you’ve chosen your slot (it’s recommended that you book well in advance) you are taken to a page that says the experience slot will be confirmed at a later stage so it’s a matter of waiting. I was impressed that I received a call to confirm this but I wasn’t happy that there’s an extra fee, £25 in fact, to book the experience on a weekend. Even when I look at the terms and conditions now I can’t see where it says that we would have to pay extra to do the experience on a weekend. Anyway, due to the above reason we had to pay it and it had to be done within 24 hours or we would miss out on our chosen day and time slot.
The Lamborghini Drive
My dad was able to drive 4 laps around the driving course. He was going slower than I expected but that’s because the organisers have create a wavy pathway using cones for drivers to drive around. I was told later that if a driver was to hit any cone they would be immediately taken back to the start and they would not be able to carry on driving. Although I did expect the drivers to be able to drive the super cars a bit faster I guess this posed more of a challenge for drivers and allowed them to spend more time in the car itself and in the drivers seat. My dad enjoyed pretending to be the owner of a Lamborghini car for that period and that’s the main thing.
Overall Driving Experience Review
I think it’s a really fun day out as we were able to watch my dad drive the car at the side of the driving range. It’s a unique experience that was enjoyable but also expensive for what it is if we factor in the extra money we had to pay for the weekend slot. In general though my dad really enjoyed himself and that’s the main thing 🙂
