Strangely, I was recommended by a few different individuals (who didn’t know each other) to try out this specific shampoo and conditioner. So, I thought I’ll try it out, especially as I’m taking good care of my hair for the wedding, and ended up purchasing it from Amazon.
In case it isn’t clear from the packaging, it’s a product used for horses… Now, ‘why are you using it then?’ I hear you ask. Well, it seems that although it may be for animals it can still have that same effect on human hair – making it shiny and healthy.
Before I tell you what I thought I’d like to tell you about my hair… My natural hair is quite thick, there’s a lot of it and tends to need conditioning only in bad weather or when I use heat on it often. The ends however I bleached (a lot) so they’re dryer and worse for wear. I found that the shampoo and conditioner brought it back to life (cheesy but true!)
Anyway, here’s what I thought…
Mane ‘n Tail Shampoo
This shampoo is thick, perhaps a little un-flexible in it’s movement. A tiny pea size of the stuff can create a crazy amount of bubbles so it tends to remind me of a child’s shampoo more than anything. I feel squeaky clean after rinsing it out. Although it’s fine, you can tell it’s meant to be for animal hair and I wouldn’t recommend using it on it’s own. When used with the conditioner though the result is great!
Mane ‘n Tail Conditioner
Just like many other conditioners it comes as a thick liquid, yellowy in colour. It has a nice consistency and is definitely smoothing, providing that nice shine. It doesn’t feel oily or heavy for me but provides that ‘conditioning blanket’.
The way I use those is once or twice a week, in between using my normal shampoo and conditioner which is TRESemmé. After a few months using this routine I’m really happy where my hair has come as I grow out the ends that were bleached.
I had my wedding hair trial last night and was REALLY happy with the look. I’ll be sure to send you a photo once I have the wedding photos! The ends (that are a lighter colour) made the style look even better than expected and the stylist complimented me on my nice thick hair, saying it should be easier to work with. So, all round a very happy girl over here, who’s really excited about the wedding now which is nearly two months away – Eeek!
Have you tried out Mane ‘n Tail Shampoo & Conditioner? I’d love to hear what you thought.
