The Future’s Bright, The Future’s Orange

Who said that the only time you can use orange in your interior design is at Halloween?

I believe using orange in your home can bring smile to peoples faces. Its hues brighten up the space and lighten the mood but you have to be very careful not to make it overpowering. So, here are my ideas how to add it into your home for a stylish and fun way for summer 2014!

Going Bold with An Orange Accent

I personally think that painting the walls orange can overwhelm the space and the people within it! I’d recommend adding orange as an accent instead to compliment a neutral base instead. This way it’s effective as it only adds a few splashes of bright colour here and there. It creates a funky and modern lounge area that’s perfect for entertaining and ideal to keep the atmosphere energetic rather than oppressive.

Retro Orange Accessories

Don’t go big if you’ve never gone bold and bright (and orange) before! I recommend starting off with small accessories, like this retro alarm clock. It’s small yet it stands out! So, once you decide if orange is for you, simply add more and more of it into your home. It’s much easier to replace accessories than it is to repaint or refurbish.

Quirky Practicality

Practicality doesn’t have to be boring! Create storage boxes that are stand out and mesmorise your guests.

I found this idea fascinating, not only are you showing off your organisation skills [and I love being organised ;)] but it also adds to the home decor.

Top Tip: I find that orange goes really well with a deep blue shade.

I know that orange isn’t for everyone but what do you think about adding it into the home?
