Christmas is all about giving.
It’s the one time in the year that we can show how much we appreciate, love and care for our family and friends. And I’m not just talking about giving presents but about giving up our time to make the season special and the experiences memorable.
That’s why when Marks and Spencer invited me to help wrap presents for charity, in particular for the children at Great Ormond Street Hospital, I was eager to get stuck in. Myself and many bloggers came together in London and spent a whole evening wrapping lots of gifts.
Not only did I feel like I was doing my part for charity but I also enjoyed learning new ways to wrap presents. After my easily wrapped gift in the below photos with the gorgeous Frozen wrapping paper, I gave other unique ways of wrapping a go, like the gift bag that seemed to be the evening favourite. Today however, I’m sharing a round wrapping tutorial which can be really tricky so I hope my guide with pictures and video helps you achieve a beautiful finished look that you love!
How to Wrap a Round Christmas Present
What You Will Need:
- Gift
- M&S Wrapping Paper
- Bow &/or Ribbon &/or Tag
- Double sided sticky tape
- Scissors
Step 1: Measure Your Round Object
Firstly, wrap your circular gift in your wrapping paper lengthways and cut it so that there is about 1-2cm overlap. Then, take the edge of your wrapping paper and bring it towards the centre of your circle. Watch the video to see how it’s done as it’s hard to explain! Cut your wrapping paper but be careful not to cut too much as you’ll need the centre covered as well. Do this for both the top and the bottom and you’re ready to start wrapping.
Step 2: Wrap it Around
Wrap your round gift and where the paper overlaps, add double sided sticky tape on the inside and secure to the other end. Be sure to tape only where the body of your gift is so that it’s easy to pleat and open up the ends if you need to. Once done, it’s time to pleat the top and bottom of your gift!
Step 3: Pleat the Sides
Start at the open cut of your wrapping paper and fold it down. Then, an inch away start folding the paper onto itself to create a pleat. Watch the video tutorial below to see how it’s done. For a neat finish, try and fold your pleats so that they’re approximately all the same size. I find the last couple of pleats quite tricky to do. You can either fold it into itself or hide the last pleat under the first pleat. This bit might take some patience so be sure to persevere as it’ll be very much worth it 🙂 Don’t forget to secure it with tape again!
Step 4: Add the Finishing Touches
When you’ve done that, simply add a bow or ribbon of your choice and a cute gift tag to finish off your desired look. My candle looks very festive now, don’t you think?
