I love summer for DIY projects with natural materials.
From mini wooden shelves to rope lights there’s plenty to make using rope or wood.
Nautical ropes look rustic and add that beach vibe to any room. Ahh, what I wouldn’t give to be on the beach or by the pier right now. Anyway, wood can be really easy to work with and when the natural patterns come out, the finished craft looks fantastic. So, I’ve put together 6 of my favourite DIY ideas this for this season, all of which use either rope or wood as the bulk of the ‘do it yourself’ project. I hope you like them!

DIY Coastal & Beach Theme Rope Light

I used giant rope from eBay to create this gorgeous wall light. I used the ‘pretzel’ knot to cover the wire and then added an awesome globe vintage lamp from Homebase to fasten to my lighting fixture. A summery idea for the garden I recon 🙂

DIY Wooden Letter
Last but not least, I’m sharing with you my woodwork. I created this wooden letter ‘G’ for Ghost (my surname) and ended up using it as decoration at my wedding. As you can see above, it’s standing by my bride and groom that was knitted by my friend. Anyway, this will require a saw and therefore be prepared to sweat. It’s totally worth it though!

I absolutely love the hanging planter idea. We are just about to move house and this is perfect for the look of my new office. I don’t know if i am crafty enough to make it without it being rubbish but i love it so much and things like this cost a bomb. I love the individual wood shelves too. Lovely style post.

Hanging rope planter looks like a great idea, but I’m afraid that once I try it, it might just all go really wrong and end up on the floor. I will just have to go with the safer option of rope pot 🙂
