Interiors Blogger Interview | Jen Stanbrook from Love Chic Living

Today, I’m sharing an interview with one of my favourite home interiors bloggers.

When I first stumbled upon Jen Stanbrook’s Love Chic Living blog, I immediately started sifting through the amazing home interior tips that she has on pretty much every room of the house, from bedroom redecorating tips to her before and after renovation photos. Last year, I finally had the pleasure of meeting her as she was one of the panel for the Next Blogger Network Event & Awards. I wrote about her talk that she gave on being professional and how to success on Pinterest. Did you know that she now offers Pinterest lessons completely free. Yup, and no catch either so go check it out!

Needless to say that she’s been an inspiration, not only as a blogger but also as a professional business woman. I was really keen for you guys to get to know her too so I’ve asked her for an interview. Here’s what she said…

An Introduction:

Hey! I’m Jen Stanbrook a freelance blogger writing at Love Chic Living. The blog is about 4.5 years old and ranked amongst the top UK interior blogs, it has also won a few awards in the last few years. I work from home where I live with my husband and two daughters aged 9 and 12.

What is your interior design style?

My style is contemporary, fun, playful and bold. I like to mix styles and trends keeping my home inspirational but also quite real. It’s a working family home after all.

Do you live in a house or flat?

I own a 100+ year old Victorian semi, now 4 bedrooms since we converted the loft space last year.

Do you enjoy decorating it?

I do, although I feel like I’ve got burnout at the moment. The loft conversion and renovations we did last year really took it out of me and I haven’t picked up a paintbrush since!

What is your favourite room in your home and why?

Oh it’s definitely the new loft. We made it into a bedroom and en-suite for me and my husband and it feels like a real retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the house.

How do you find time to decorate and style your home?

The styling part is easy as I’m always tinkering and fussing with things. I quite like to change things up on a regular basis. The decorating is more tricky though and time is so sparse these days that we don’t find much opportunity.

What is your next home styling or redecorating project?

Even though I’ve lost my decorating mojo a little, I do feel inclined to work on the ground floor of the house and do up the living room. It’s been the same colour palette for years and I’m really keen for a change – just need to decide exactly how I’m going to do it. I feel a moodboard coming on!

What is your favourite or most popular post?

Well my most popular post is one on what to do with wooden pallets strangely enough. Then there’s a post on creating the best kind of living room, which I love actually as it some great advice from other bloggers.

What is your best interior tip for somebody who is renting?

Even though you can’t change up too much, try and put your stamp on your home as much as possible. Cover the carpets with rugs, hang wall art with washi tape or those Command 3M strips, use throws and cushions you love and generally inject your personality.

What is your best interior tip for somebody who is decorating their first home?

Don’t do too much at once. Live in the house a bit before you start decorating, then tackle one room. If you don’t like the colours, buy some cheap white paint and cover the walls into a blank canvas so you can really imagine what you want to do with the space.

What is your best interior tip for somebody who is redecorating large areas of their home?

Plan and research like crazy to avoid overspending. Have a budget and stick to it!

Lastly, what are your three favourite things at this very moment?

  1. Dark Green colour
  2. Watching the new A/W home pieces come out into the shops
  3. My new Christy towels!

So, here are her thoughts on decorating and a few fun facts to finish off with as well. I really hope you enjoyed the interview and that you check out her blog. Let me know what you think 🙂
