It’s coming up to two years since we moved into our first home.
Our lounge went through a massive transformation and that’s what I’m going to be sharing with you today!
So this is what it looked like when we first moved in…
LOUNGE – BEFORE PHOTO
Well what can I say, it was a bit of a mix and match. Let’s take it step by step…
The blue sofas were second hand passed on from the in-laws. We were very lucky to have grabbed these super duper comfortable seats because there was no way we could afford a new set as soon as we moved out. They’ve really served the family well and it was even a little sad to see them go 😉
Then there’s the contemporary rug. Although it’s quirky, it definitely doesn’t suit the space and looks too small. It also doesn’t really go with anything else, apart from maybe matching the colours of the floral and patterned cushions. That’s gone now too.
Lots of decor and photo frames and hangings have been moved around as well. Plus, we acquired lots more since our wedding so as these things go you won’t see most of the things in the before photo in the after photos below.
LOUNGE – AFTER PHOTOS
The space definitely brightened up and reflects much more of our style, rather than being a space with an amalgamation of random items.
We bought our new light beige sofas from Debenhams which we saved up for and it looks perfectly with the knitted white cushions we received as wedding gifts.
We also needed a replacement for the old rug so now in its stead is this Moroccan rug* with a diamond pattern from The Rug House. It adds an eclectic edge to the room which I really like as well as a modern twist to compliment the dark wooden floors in the living room. You’ll also see it in my post where I styled a ‘light and bright’ space.
Did you also spot the massive mirror* on the wall? It’s from Next from a styling shoot I did for their Easter DIY Styling challenge. It really opens up the space and bounces the light to the darkest corners of the room.
Then there’s my newest and most favourite edition, the set of three vintage wooden tables* from PIB Home. With really quirky and unique items on their site I found it hard to choose only these to buy. I love that the dark wood matches the floors and I’m so impressed with the pattern and chunky design of the tables too. They’re so easy to use and really stylish as well – everyone always compliments us on those 🙂
Last but not least are the finishing touches and details. Â You’ll see our first dance wedding photo is in a lovely frame and I’ve also added a couple of plants and deer candle holders to the window sill.
In general I feel the space is much more homey and much more us too. The next steps would be to change the ceiling light as we’ve had it for a while and we might even paint the lounge another colour and get rid of the blue but we’ll see! I’m sure I’ll keep you updated 🙂
Have you had any recent room makeovers at home?

I am desperate for some wooden tables but we just don’t have the room at the moment with all the kids toys. It looks fab!

Your living room looks gorgeous I just love the whole room and cant pick out one item I love the most. Our living room is the room which needs the most make over but renting makes it tricky.

Love the new look and the floating shelves 🙂 Although we’ve moved in our new home in May, we still have loads of photos/prints/paintings to hang. x
