As it’s getting closer and closer to my wedding I’m becoming more aware of my skin routine.
I began to keep away from alcohol because I know it gives me spots pretty much imminently. I’ve also decided to take extra care of my face by setting myself a bedtime routine where I wash and/or cleanse my skin.
So if you’re doing a Rachel from Beauty Queen UK who taught me to always read up on the beauty product before trying it yourself then I hope you find my review useful!
Know your Skin Type
Firstly, let me start by telling you about my skin. I have combinational skin that has a mind of its own, from oily patches in the summer to dry nostrils in the winter. My diet also has a direct impact on my skin as well as the weather, so basically it can be a nightmare. BEFORE you shout at me though, yes I’ve been lucky because I have my mother’s genes which means I have a youthful look…no I’m not 12 but thanks for the “compliment”.
Anyway, I gratefully received the wash and lotion from the new luxury brand Adam & Eve because they specialise in helping young adults get smooth and clear skin. It encouraged me to start taking steps to better skin in time for my wedding day in November.
My skin is even picky about what makeup remover wipes I use so I tend to reach for the sensitive options on the shelves. I remained hopeful for my Adam & Eve product reviews though so here goes…
Smell: The first thing I smelt was chamomile but it’s made up of cucumber and meadowsweet as well so it must be the mix of those together that made me love the smell of this face wash. I’m a big fan of scented skincare; I always feel refreshed and squeaky clean.
Texture: It’s smooth and tender. There is no exfoliation with this face wash, rather a thick gel that purifies.
Application: Dampen your face and neck with warm water and apply the gel. I like to massage my face in circular motions, focusing on the most combinational areas, such as my T zone. The instructions say that you should then remove the face wash with a wet muslin but I found that it works well without it just as well.
Effect: My skin is left squeaky clean, almost like you would with soap but without that harsh feeling, if you know what I mean? My face was definitely purified. My skin was left feeling great every time, especially after a long day at work – helping me wash away the ordeal of my rush hour commute!
Smell: It’s like a spa in a bottle. It has Neroli and Bergamot essential oils that make me want to smother my face in this stuff haha.
Texture: With soothing Jojoba, it is a lovely cream that conditions as well as cleanses.
Application: Directions for use are the same as the wash – dampen your face and apply by massaging into your skin then use a wet muslin to remove it. I very much enjoyed the whole process of doing this and found that it cleansed my face yet still left my skin lightly moisturised, which is ideal.
Effect: Personally, this was my favourite of the two. Not because there’s anything wrong with the wash but because this lotion was just that good. It smelt great and left my skin radiant and protected, not just refreshed.
Both of these can be used to take makeup off (if the application is repeated) which some people might prefer. I like to take my makeup off first though and then use the products to clean the leftovers, if there are any. Anyway, I’m feeling confident that my skin will be ready to glow for my wedding day – keep your fingers crossed for me! 🙂
Would you Adam & Eve it?
