SPF! The Holiday Beauty Essential

When it’s super sunny I hate wearing layers of makeup. So, as I was off on holiday, I went in search of  a foundation that’s both kind to my face and protects me from those nasty sun rays. Here’s what I found…

L’oreal Paris True Match Foundation

L’oreal’s True Match foundation (R5 – C5 Sable Rose ¦ Rose Sand) is great. It has the essential SPF 17 that I need to prevent my face getting sun-burnt on holiday and it covers my face evenly. It’s soft, easy to apply as well as blend and I found that, despite the extreme heat, my face doesn’t look oily.

I actually bought a darker colour of foundation than one I would usually go for as I knew that my skin colour would change on holiday due to natural tan. Even though I’d usually buy an ivory colour, this rosy shade is perfect – and it was only after a couple of days in the sun too! All in all, I’m very happy with this foundation.

I bought this Nude Magique BB Cream  (light skin tone) after asking a SuperDrugs beauty staff member for a recommendation. It’s a cream I have not noticed before to be truthful so I thought I’ll give it a go, especially as it boasts that it’s a 5 in 1 beauty product that hydrates the skin as well as protects it from the sun with SPF 12.

Firstly, I immediately noticed the smell! – It has a very strange … fishy smell to it?! Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? Looking, or smelling past this (if you pardon the pun!) I applied it as I would any other face cream. Although I did notice that it hydrates my skin, I was conscious that in the heat my face seemed shiny.

I also noticed that it didn’t cover my ‘imperfections’ like the foundation above, but I guess it can be expected as it’s only a BB cream. Plus, it does state that it ‘mimics the texture and glow of perfect bare skin’ so the natural look is definitely something this product achieves.

I think the BB cream is a very interesting product and perfect for more frequent use as it’s kinder to the skin, in the sense that it hydrates and provides protection, but personally I prefer the True Match foundation. What product do you wear when it’s sunny?

With your wonderful skin you don’t need any makeup actually! Great review and the complexion it’s giving is wonderful.
