Don’t you sometimes wish that you could one day have a Victorian home?
I do… Well whilst I daydream about it and pretend that my new home might look like a beautiful massive Victorian home from the outside, I can find a few accessories to add character inside for now.
Who cares what it looks likes on the outside, once you step through the front door I want instant impact and for it to immediately look like a Victorian period drama within and it all starts with the first touch… of the Victorian door knob. The look, the feel and the Victorian finish (that won’t cost you a fortune either.) I can imagine it fitting in very well with the acrylic paintings I would hang on my dark and patterned walls, as well as my brown and red interior colour scheme. It’s intimate, powerful and I personally think it’s very homey!
I love furniture makeovers so I’d search charity shops for old, curved furniture that I can restore or paint. A dark brown glaze over a wooden curvy chest of drawers or a wardrobe can give it that antique look and finish.
I’d add Victorian decorations and accessories on top of these and around the rooms for the perfect finishing touch. By the time my family and friends have seen all of the interior they’ll certainly think that they’ve stepped through time to a true Victorian home 😉
